John A. Baranello, Jr, PE, SECB


John Baranello started at Severud Associates in 1977 and throughout his career, he has become a master at analyzing and designing complex structures such as high-rise office buildings, guyed transmission towers, hotels, and medical and retail facilities. He has engineered many major and iconic projects, including The Bryant hotel and condominiums, the Alexandria Center for Life Science at East River Science Park, and New York Methodist Hospital’s Center for Community Health, all in New York City, and expansion of the Northwell Health Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, New York. John contributes to the profession by serving on a New York Building Congress (NYBC) committee. He is also a past president of the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY).

John is certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board (SECB) and licensed as a professional engineer in New York and 11 other states. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now the New York University Tandon School of Engineering).
