To keep column loads low, Severud Associates chose structural steel for this satellite campus library, which also serves as a student activity center. The airy, two-story-high study space is protected from direct sunlight by specially glazed windows and long overhangs of the steel-framed roof. Use of materials with high recycled content enabled sustainability goals to be achieved.
