Severud Associates Promotions

The experienced and expert engineering staff at Severud Associates is our most important asset. Therefore, we are proud to announce that Matthew Peitz and Daniel Surrett have been named Associate Principal. Both have demonstrated a deep commitment to their profession and the firm.

Associate Principal

Matthew Peitz started at Severud Associates as a student intern. In 2006, he returned to the firm with his degree in hand and began working his way up the ranks. In 2013, he earned a master’s degree. Matt uses his advanced education and more than 15 years of experience to engineer and manage large-scale and complex structures such as transportation facilities and medical research laboratories. His portfolio of challenging projects includes New York University’s 181 Mercer Street, the NYU Langone Health Science Building, and the Penn 2 Redev-elopment, all in New York City. Matt contributes to the structural engineering profession through his work with SEAoNY, where he is a past director.

Associate Principal

Daniel Surrett has been with Severud Associates since 2006. He started as an engineer and by 2018 had progressed to senior associate. Dan’s skills in the design of structural systems, augmented by his extensive field experience, allow him to both manage and engineer multiple large-scale projects. Dan’s portfolio of noteworthy projects includes 270 Park Avenue, One Vanderbilt Avenue, and the Bank of America Tower, three of the tallest office buildings in New York City. Other projects include the One Madison Avenue Redevelopment in Manhattan, Roswell Park’s Scott Bieler Clinical Sciences Center in Buffalo, New York and the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

These talented engineers, along with their colleagues, will keep Severud Associates at the forefront of the structural engineering profession, using best practices for safety, innovation, and economy in their designs and providing engaged service to clients.
