2024 Canstruction Event a Big Success!

Weeksville Heritage Center

Our 2024 Canstruction Event on October 30, 2024 was a great success!  Numerous engineers from Severud helped make the evening fun AND successful!

Sindi KrastaBenny Wu, EITKarina Fiola AnggaraCarlos AbreuElizabeth G. DePaolaYona RubinDavid Madrigal, EITEric SamaniegoMeghan Krupka, L.M.T., P.E., and Gerry Lourentzatos completed another excellent Canstruction New York, Inc. (Canstruction Global HQ) canned food sculpture. The proceeds and canned food goods from the event will be donated to City Harvest.

This year’s theme was inspired by the movie Ratatouille, as the movie’s main character, Remy, was brought to life in canned food.

The Canstruction 2024 Severud Crew!

That’s not just another New York City rat: it’s Remy! Just like this world-renowned French chef who knows that “anyone can cook,” we believe anyone can make a big difference. Our Remy-themed structure is a blend of creativity and teamwork with a dash of heart to help fight hunger one can (and one tiny chef) at a time!

Canstruction is a charitable event in which many of New York City’s leading architectural, engineering and construction firms use canned food to create sculptures. The sculptures are typically made up of thousands of cans, and after completion, the structures are on display for the public in Lower Manhattan.   At the end of the event, the cans are packed up and donated to City Harvest.

Severud has been participating in Canstruction since 1994, and all staff participants agree that it’s a fun and unique way to give back to the community.

Thanks to all who participated for another successful year helping the community!
