David J. Bretl, PE

Associate

 

David Bretl joined Severud Associates as an engineer in 2014 and shortly thereafter progressed to senior engineer. In 2020, he advanced to associate. During his time with the firm, he has acquired knowledge of a broad range of structural systems, including concrete, steel, wood, and masonry as well as specialty systems such as long-span composite floor deck, insulated concrete forms, and pot bearings. David’s expertise allows him to better serve his clients and in turn develop long-lasting relationships with them. His recent projects include The Overture at Brookfield Commons in White Plains, New York, the Sphere at The Venetian in Las Vegas Nevada, and the residential development at Halletts Point in Queens. David has also worked extensively with renovations and historic restorations such as the Ed Sullivan Theater and TSX Broadway redevelopment, both in Manhattan, and the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

 

David is licensed as a professional engineer in New York and Nevada, Las Vegas. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle and a Master of Science in structural engineering from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
