William Cheng, PE

Associate

 

William Cheng has been with Severud Associates for six years. As he moved up the ranks—to senior engineer in 2022 and associate in 2024—William contributed to a diverse portfolio of projects using reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood frame construction. Recent projects include design and special inspection of 125 West 57th Street, an office building and church sanctuary in New York City. William also has extensive experience with historical building systems, such as cinder concrete slabs and terra cotta tile arches. William’s portfolio of significant projects includes the renovation of 71 Franklin Street, the residential development at 222 East Broadway, expansion of the Browning School, and the York Avenue residences for Weill Cornell Medicine, all in Manhattan, and the residential development at 111 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hemstead, NY.

 

William represents the structural engineering profession within the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) as a member of the Publications Committee. He is also active with the ACE Mentor Program.

 

William is licensed as a professional engineer in New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in civil engineering, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
